WEBSTER CITY — Webster City senior wrestler Cam Phetxoumphone has been named one of seven finalists for the Class 2A Dan Gabe Mr. Wrestler of the Year award by Fareway Stores, Inc. and IAwrestle, it was announced on Tuesday.

The winners for the Mr. and Ms. Wrestler of the Year awards will be announced on Feb. 22 in Boone. Mr. Wrestler of the Year honors will be handed out to one individual in each of the three classes. The Ms. Wrestler of the Year award will combine all of the classes.

A preliminary list of 15 potential winners was whittled down to seven finalists in each class. Fans have the ability to vote once per day for their top wrestler in each category until Feb. 8 at www.iawrestle.com. Fan vote winners will count as one vote toward the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association’s committee vote in each class.

Phetxoumphone is joined as a 2A finalist by Nick Fox of Osage, Blaine Frazier and CJ Walrath of West Burlington Notre Dame, Wyatt Voelker of West Delaware, Carter Fousek of Crestwood, and Kade Blume of Roland-Story.
